Naming the Animals

  1. this is almost like watching a foreign film, in which the "foreign" landscape is a black screen. What interests me about foreign films, ones made in a language with which I am unfamiliar, is how I "hear" what I read on the screen. I don't hear the actual words the actors say. Perhaps this is not the same for everyone. What I mean is that there is always a question of accuracy. Is what I "hear" what the actor has really said? Is there enough room on the screen to convey the complexity and density of meaning? I felt the same sort of question of accuracy but with sight instead of hearing while watching this, especially when the speakers moved from the general to specific, from cow to minnow.

I feel silly, but for some reason I really wanted to see the cow and minnow.

  2. Hey Jen, the only reason there's a video element at all is that Blogger won't let me post JUST audio, which was my commitment to the project: audio every day. But I started to like the black screen. It's really minimalist.

And actually, believe it or not, Minnow is a cat. A toy cat.
