apparently

Apparently, "Rice Krispie Treats" do not qualify as a healthy snack according to the standards of kindergarten folks. I mean the little ones. As in, the little one into whose backpack I placed said treat, who then proceeded to remove it (the sole content of the giant backpack) and explain that it does not and has never constituted a healthy snack. I dutifully replaced it with some string cheese. She went on to tell me that she was permanently grounded from "Rice Krispie Treats" because she ate two of them once when she should have only had one. Which, from what I now know about their general unhealthiness, was probably a very grave error. I'm expecting a call from the school nurse at any moment regarding the older children, who had no qualms about consuming the same snack. It occurs to me that I might have asked the littlest if she removed the wrappers before consuming, which seems like it would be self evident... but I'm discovering day by day that fewer things are self evident than I once imagined. The mountain is on fire, and smoke fills the sky. None of these are clouds. None of these are balloons. Full of thoughts or otherwise.
